The Church is the body of Christ on earth. She is above any institution, office or any count of butts and budgets. Every person who is in Christ is a member of a holy priesthood. Liturgy releases sacraments and ordinances alike as the work of the people.
John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, begins a letter with these stunning words, “The elder to the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth…” The elect lady is the Church who is given great honor by this elder apostle. Her children are all people who believe in truth.
It seems odd to me that any priest or pastor can say, “Only I can consecrate.” God made all things holy. We as believers are made holy once and for all through the sacrificed body of Christ. All are consecrated.
The Church, as the body of Christ, is the work of the people in concert with the Holy Spirit. Let those who have ears hear what God is saying.
